Description:
This beautiful lake used to be an old rock quarry. Neighbors,
conservationist, and a few passing spectators had doubts that we could make
this lake hold water. Today it is still full showing, “Anything we set our
mind to can be done” says Jarrett Archdekin.
What had to be done:
The pit had to be dewatered before any clearing or fill could
take place. Because the Platte River ran along the west side of the dam
creating a good core for the dam was difficult. Once the core was in, the
massive dam was built with dozers and scrapers. |
